Uno studio condotto da un gruppo di ricercatori del New York Medical Centre e pubblicato sulla rivista British Journal of Urology conferma le proprietà terapeutiche del fungo Maitake che potrebbe contribuire a combattere il cancro alla vescica e alla prostata.
Per arrivare a queste conclusioni i ricercatori, coordinati da Sensuke Konno, hanno combinato un piccolo estratto concentrato del fungo con una proteina anti-cancro chiamata interferone alfa.
Ebbene, questo mix e' stato in grado di ridurre fino a tre quarti la crescita delle cellule tumorali nei pazienti affetti da cancro alla vescica o alla prostata.
Questa proteina anti-cancro, utilizzata in altri trattamenti, è stata usata a basse dosi.
I ricercatori sono convinti che un basso dosaggio di interferone alfa e dell'estratto del fungo Maitake puo' attivare un enzima che controlla la crescita delle cellule tumorali.
Si tratta di una scoperta scientifica importante perche' non solo migliora l'efficacia del trattamento, ma anche la qualita' della vita dei pazienti, riducendo la dose di terapie convenzionali in maniera significativa, riconfermando la fama delle proprietà terapeutiche del fungo Maitake .
